TOPICS
CONSERVING NATURE WITH PEOPLE
We approach topics from a social-ecological aspect, framing it mostly as ‚ecosystem services’, or, ‚nature’s contributions to people’, as we believe that nature can only be protected with the people together.
LOCATIONS & SCALES
For conserving nature, we need to get people involved. This is true for all different scales, from regional projects, taking place-based approaches with local communities, to national and global conservation frameworks, where reliable monitoring methods for biodiversity and ecosystem services can help nations to fulfill their international commitments.
We work internationally, while also implementing local work in and around Munich and Budapest.

WATER
A special interest in freshwater ecosystems, and the fact that water is often in the focus of both intense pressures, threatening the diversity of aquatic life, as well as great public interest to use, restore and enjoy often brings us to topics where water is set within a social-ecological system.

CONSULTING
We advise on ecological issues, relying on a depth of knowledge in ecology, hydrobiology and on best practices for implementation of environmental activities. We develop sets of actually relevant social-ecological measures to account for nature & sustainability at the business level. We consult on (urban & rural) bee-keeping, urban ecological gardening and other local projects.
We develop conceptual frameworks that link relevant parts, and help analyze complex topics.
We plan and develop local to international projects, design work flows and methodologies and oversee the implementation of small teams as well as larger groups.

MAPPING
We use GIS for visualizing and mapping ecosystem services, based on spatial data, expert evaluations, other input data or statistics. We have been involved in mapping vegetation, e.g. for the European Union’s Habitats Directive (Natura 2000 habitats) and the mapping and assessment of ecosystem services at various scales, from local to global.

PARTICIPATION
We organize and lead participatory workshops, for example for eliciting people’s values connected to nature and ecosystem services or for teaching methods of ecosystem research, gathering experts’ views on specific topics, building future scenarios together for envisioned land use options of local communities. We also develop questionnaires, perform interviews and analyze them.

SHARING KNOWLEDGE
We love to share our love for nature! Be it for kids or for adults, in class or outdoors, showing people hidden gems in urban settings, combined with some fun activities, together with arts, or with food, we show how nature enriches our lives in so many ways - and how we need to take care of her.
